What a crazy week (or so) it has been! I have been in Florida for over a week, and I already love it all so much!! Last Friday, with everything packed in little Kia, my mom and I drove 9 hours to my aunt's house in Eustis and got some must needed rest. The next day, I got to mark my first thing off my bucket list: Celebration, FL. The town was developed by the Walt Disney Company in the 1990s and makes for some pretty nice views and pictures.
My mom and I spent some time resort hopping and at Disney Springs. We got to see Animal Kingdom Lodge for the very first time and got to take some time at the Polynesian Resort and enjoy a dole whip. We ate at one of our favorite places on property for dinner: Wolfgang Puck Express.
Monday was the big day! I checked in with Disney Housing, went to Casting, and got all moved into my new apartment that I share with 5 other people. Casting was such an amazing experience that I will never forget. The building is absolutely amazing and so much better in person! My mom and I spent the next few hours unpacking, and then, I had a newly required physical test for custodial cast members.
The next day I would like to be named Walmart Day. I believe that I set foot in Walmart 4 times, and that is enough to last me a lifetime. On Wednesday, my mom left me :( (Shoutout to my mom for all of her help. I definitely could not have done it without her. I love you so much and am so thankful for you!) On Thursday, I spent almost the entire day resort hopping with my roommates. We hit Art of Animation, Pop Century, the Polynesian, and the Grand Floridian. If you have never had the chance, please take the time to walk around Art of Animation. Disney definitely outdid themselves with this hotel, and it is by far the most "Disney" hotel on property!
On May 26th, I officially became a cast member with The Walt Disney Company. I received my blue ID, name tag, and a pretty sweet surprise: new ears! Traditions was an amazing experiences, and it was cool to learn what makes this company so magical to so many people.
After about 2 hours of sleep, I had to get up to catch a bus at 6 am to go to Disney University for seven hours of training. Afterwards, some of us went to MK for the first time as cast members. We got "I'm Celebrating" buttons, and we all got to make a wish while we were pixie dusted, a magical start to the evening and our Program. The four of us had never seen Happily Every After (the new firework/ castle show), so we made sure to get there early to get a spot close to the castle. Happily Ever After was by far one of the best things I have ever seen at Walt Disney World, and I cannot believe that I get to see it whenever I want to for the next seven months.
This has been such a fun week, and I am so excited to start my custodial training this week! Thank you for joining me in this journey and cannot wait to see what else this adventure has in store!
